I went to Coconut Grove to compete in the Orange Bowl for the 2nd time. It is one of my favorite events of the year. The international competition is fierce but also friendly ! I always leave with new friends from different countries. This year they were from Hong Kong, Sweden and Spain. I participated in the clinic at CRYC to prepare, I think it’s great to get to practice where the event is going to take place.
I started out the regatta doing ok, but felt I needed to get my head in the game. I qualified for bronze fleet, just like last year, there where more racers this year and the level of coipition was for sure higher. I needed to work on getting good clean starts and when I listed to what my coach told me to do it worked! Crazy right ?! I got 4th in that race and was stoked! I was placing higher than last year entering the last day and was sure I could move up a few more spots to really improve on last year. I had an amazing start and was in 3rd when they called the day for no wind squashing that dream. But I still improved over last year, and most importantly I had so much FUN !
Thank you for supporting me at this wonderful event !
Oh and future goals for here: the winners of all fleets/classes got to go to the Orange Bowl, walk on to 50 yard line and be recognized, I hope that will be me some day!
