I would like to thank the BYC Maritime Science and Sailing Foundation for supporting my sailing at the 2024 C420 Open North American Championship. This regatta was located in Redwood City, California, July 17-20. Hosted by the Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation. The venue we sailed at was West point harbor. This venue was windy blowing a constant eighteen to twenty knots throughout the entire regatta except for the first race of each day which was about eight to twelve knots. The starting line was located in shallow water which made getting out to a side and playing the current key for this regatta.
My crew, Madi Jones, and I were on the lighter side of the fleet with a combined weight of two-hundred and forty pounds making the eighteen to twenty knot winds difficult for us to demonstrate our skills. Although we didn’t do as well as we wanted to, my crew and I gained a lot of experience and knowledge which will be used in future events.
This all wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the BYC Maritime Science and Sailing Foundation. Thank you for supporting me and making what seemed like a dream a reality.
