Dear BYC MSSF,

There are no words to thank you enough for your help with the funding to allow me to travel to New Jersey for the Ida Lewis Women’s US Doublehanded Championships and to sail in the Junior Olympics in San Diego.

Both events were sailed in Club 420’s.Ida Lewis is one of my favorite regattas I have ever sailed. Competing in the Ida Lewis a second time allowed me to reunite with sailors and coaches I had met last year and also allowed me to meet more people in the sailing world. I made many new friends from all around the US while I was in New Jersey.

The clinic before the regatta helped us improve our sailing. Carolyn Smith, my skipper, and I placed 10th out of 40 competitors. For the most part, the venue was windy and choppy.  The weather helped Carolyn and I become more comfortable in heavy wind.

Lastly, even though we had to go out sailing in JO’s immediately after we landed in San Diego from New Jersey, the Junior Olympics was still a great regatta. We placed 6th out of 15 boats. Although we could have done better, we were satisfied with our scores.  JO’s has always been a good regatta with great competition, and it always will be.

Without your help I would have never been able to have such a great experience traveling to New Jersey and competing in JO’s. Thank you so much, I truly appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Bayley Davidson
