Morgan Cup was quite possibly the best regatta I have ever been to. The team all flew in and met at New York Yacht Club to go practice on Thursday morning after having taken the red eye out that previous evening. Standing on the front lawn we were eager to get out and practice and after a few hours of practicing in the sonars we sailed in and went out to dinner as a team.

The next day racing began; we started off strong winning to both SDYC and NHYC. Conditions where light and variable which made it very difficult for the race committee to get races off, however they still did a spectacular job of doing such. That evening there was a reception in front of the clubhouse and the following day racing ensued. Wind, again, was very light, however the race committee managed to finish off the round robin and begin the gold round robin. That night a dinner reception was held at the club house and we were all served an amazing dinner. At the dinner it was announced that those in the silver fleet would have an opportunity to move up into the gold fleet through a knockout round and possibly contend to win the event.

With that in mind the next day we had our game faces on and faced SDYC in our first race. Conditions again were in the 2-3 knot range and racing was very tight. SDYC ended up besting us in our race, with our finish looking like a start, as everyone crossed the finish line at almost the same exact time. NHYC ended up winning the silver fleet knockout and carried that momentum to win the whole event!

This regatta was a blast, the location was gorgeous, and it was some of the most intense and close racing I have ever been apart of. Thank you so much to MSSF for sending me, and thank you so much to the BYC team racing team for letting me join for the weekend.
