Thank you for funding me to go to the 2019 Leiter, the Single Handed Womens Youth Championships. I learned a lot and made new friends and memories I will never forget. San Francisco Bay is very cold, even in Summer. We were warned about the water temps, but until one feels it, they really don’t appreciate what cold can be like.

One thing I learned is how to answer questions, especially to someone in charge, such as the head of US women’s sailing. I am very appreciative of participating, and I know I could have done well, even though San Francisco was extremely cold and choppy. There were a lot of masts stuck in the mud. I was able to attend all the race meetings, and during one of the meetings, I learned about pre-setting one’s internal clock prior to traveling for a regatta. I will be using this technique for Worlds coming up.

I have been training hard to get here, and will continue to train for my first Worlds.
