Thank you so much for supporting Morgan and my trip out east to Miami last winter. I really appreciate your continued support of my sailing. Below is a short summary of the regatta.

My 2019 Orange Bowl began, as most do, about a week prior to the regatta, participating in a clinic held by Coral Reef Yacht Club by our two coaches for the regatta, Fred Moffat and Ian Robinson. This clinic was an extremely helpful learning experience, where Fred explained all about weather shore affects, lee shore affects, and countless other weather tips. After celebrating Christmas with the Pinckneys, we took a few days to practice in the amazing Miami weather, including possibly going the fastest I have ever sailed in a 420 on the edge of a large rain cloud that brought showers for a few days. Finally the regatta itself came around. Unfortunately, Morgan and I did not place as well as we had hoped, finishing in 14th out of 77 registered boats, due to three OCS’s and one deep score, however we finished the regatta strong winning both races on the final day, only to find out the first race awarded us with another OCS later on.

Although Morgan and I did not place as well as we had hoped during this regatta, it was still an amazing learning experience and It would not have been possible without your continued support of my sailing. I had an amazing time and learned some incredible weather tips which I have already been able to utilize in my local sailing back home. Thank you again so much for all your help and support and I can’t wait to see what regattas are next!
